Rebel Human is entrenched at District 65 as well. If you seek, you will find.

Yeah, I already found - you're not the first to tell me. $9k / year over there. For a meditation app! Absolutely wild.

from my perspective, the fact that there's a conflict of interest shouldn't preclude this person or anyone from doing business with ETHS. BUT there should be full disclosure and transparency.

The saying, "Sunshine is the best disinfectant" rings loudly and is true; at least IMO.

Good grief. On top of the questionable contract, what a complete waste of money!

speaking as a student - the actual opinion of the ETHS student body is that rebel human is of at best questionable value and is probably a waste of time. I know the study says that students overwhelmingly agree it helps, but that's just because it's high schoolers trying to finish a survey easily. When you actually talk to them, the consensus is that it's stupid.

Do you really use it every day in PE class? That seems excessive. In MY DAY we had to run in gym class

not every day - it varies by teacher. sometimes for Monday assignments (when our class periods are shorter) they will give us an assignment to watch a video and answer a few questions. Sometimes during the rest of the week we will have 5-10 minute meditation periods at the end of class.

Nothing says physical education like watching a video. Good grief.

This is BS. Download a free meditation app and get those kids moving. We have a generation of kids with the highest obesity rates ever, many of whom could benefit from the basics of PE and health classes. Sounds like another case of what Barry Doyle described as backwards decision making in his OpEd about the Fifth Ward School. In this case, it's "will my friends benefit and make money that I can pay them from my taxpayer funded budget". If yes, then spend the money!

Yeah this seems particularly egregious in terms of using power to benefit your friends

Tom, do you have any thoughts on the D65 superintendent search. I know they talked about it at the last meeting, but it is unclear if they are going to have a transparent search. The signs seem to point to another secretive search from reading the news accounts.

The PR that Rebel Human puts out is amazing. If you are naive and/or gullible you would want this in your school. Nearly every crisis that could occur in school would be avoided by using this program. Within a few short weeks the students would be able to self regulate themselves never mind that the adults couldn’t I agree with Elliot. It is “ stupid” and a waste of time and money As a retired school social worker I can see that someone is laughing all the way to the bank
