I was a supporter of Angela's in 2021. By far she had the most relevant experience needed for a Board member, so I was very surprised at how poor she showed. I am not trying to throw shade on Angela, but--to use Obama's phrase--she and the other "independent" candidates were shellacked.

If Angela is reading this, I would be curious to hear your thoughts about why you lost and what, if anything, could you have done differently? My main reason for wanting to know is that I am seeing the same tactics that were used on you being deployed this time around at an exponentially higher volume.

This time around, the incumbent supporters seem to be doubling-down on a Trump-style politics of grievance, conspiracy theories, and a cultish devotion to District leadership. It seems to be much more aggressive this year. I'm concerned we are going to see John and Ndona at the bottom of the leaderboard again. (Not sure what to make of Omar. The fact that he's stopped campaigning is weird.)

I'll let Angela respond to this but chiming in to post a link to the 2021 outcomes: https://www.foiagras.com/p/crime-and-politics

Hi! Thanks for your support. I think people were willing to cut the board and admin a lot of slack bc Horton was new and Covid. It was frustrating that people talked about everything but the budget and finances - that’s a real mandate of the board and it’s been totally left in the dust. I am counting on the last 2 years of total destruction of the district to make an impact on the vote. If all 1200 kids parents who left vote that’s a big number. We need to be emailing people and activating older voters. I am worried but hopeful.
