I do not like Trump. I did not vote for Trump. Trump scares me. I do not think for one minute that if my house were on fire these guys would not save my life and the lives of my pets because I voted for Harris. They absolutely would safe my life. They would also save my pets’ lives. While holding 100 pounds of gear. Even though I voted for Harris.

I think so too but I think it’s important that everyone view the fire dept this way, including people who are not documented or super hater Trump. Especially if I share an apartment wall with them
If you are living in the United States I think it’s pretty fair to assume a large portion of your law enforcement/fire department voted for Trump. Probably around 95% of that population. Does it mean they wouldn’t break down a door to rescue even pet Rover? Absolutely not. They would rescue Rover. Even if Rover were wearing a Harris tee shirt. Does it mean I should get scared and not call them because they didn’t vote for Harris? NO.
I hate Trump. But this is giving Trump power he does not deserve.
Yeah but when I lived on Hinman, I had an immigrant family next door with a lot of people in the unit. If there was a fire in their place and they worried some fireman was a hardon who would call ICE and hesitated to call 911 for that reason - I am the one who would get burnt.
But do you think it is this picture that makes people hesitant to call? I understand firefighters should not do this on firefighter time; however, do you think the picture actually changes anything??? Surprise!!!! A Republican Firefighter?????
I had no idea you were a Republican until I saw this???
It’s probably not the photo itself that would make someone hesitant to call. In fact, if the photo is a signal of anything, it is probably irrelevant. I guess, in a country and in a moment when marginalized and vulnerable people are feeling even more marginalized and vulnerable, these kinds of clubby, MAGA bro antics are at best not a good look and, at worst, a gross display of poor judgment by city employees who are sworn to protect ALL of us.
You’re right - I have no idea how things like this are received by literally anyone other than me and the folks who post here. That is what makes this such a murky topic (and I am glad we can all hash it out here).
