Two District 65 Candidate Forums Scheduled for January

This is just a quick post to announce some upcoming District 65 Candidate election events. There are two of them coming up in January and I’m sure there will be more as we get closer to election day, which is April 1, 2025.

Sunday, January 12, 2025 (2:00pm - 4:30pm)
- Location: ETHS Auditorium
- Hear from candidates and their plans to address the District 65 Achievement gap. D65 reading gaps: only 19% of Black students read at grade level vs 64% of white students. In math, 12% of black students vs 63% of white students meet the standards.

Thursday January 30, 2025 (6:30 pm-9 pm)
- Location: Reba Place Church (620 Madison)
- Meet and Greet D65 candidates. Public opportunities for neighbors to meet the 17 candidates wanting to serve D65. First hour each candidate can meet neighbors at their table area while snacking on Yo Fresh treats (coffee and soft drinks too). At 7:30, each candidate will be invited to the mic to share for two minutes about themselves/vision for D65. Media and any neighbor is welcome but no debate/questions from audience (can seat 500). Will be live streamed on facebook live.
