Speaking of the Department of Ed and the school board, did anyone read Nichole Pinkard's response to the Kumba candidate questionnaire? It is crazy. In response to the question about her opinion on Foster School she replies:
"It reduces the financial, social, and academic costs of busing and could potentially attract Title I funding, which would bring critical resources to the district. "
She takes the discredited Sergio/Horton/Obafemi numbers at face value AND ignores the Trump plans to gut Title 1 money? Talk about an NU professor ensconced in the Ivory Tower! Not sure whether this speaks to her being checked out or maybe related to the worldview of her millionaire donors.
I haven't read the surveys yet, honestly it's a lot of reading and hard to differentiate the candidates. But yeah, Title I money is probably gone, even if it's statutory (literally in the name), I don't think Trump will be signing those checks regardless of what the courts say.
Her paragraph after that is not so bad, though?
"However, the board has a critical role in managing the cost of this project responsibly. While the school is coming, how it rises is up to us. Building trust within the community will be essential to ensuring that Foster’s construction and operation are financially sustainable. Are we exploring creative funding opportunities, such as naming rights for the auditorium or gym? Many ETHS donors also attended District 65 schools, and the board must create a vision and environment that inspires citizens to support this effort. While the board is not the direct fundraiser, it holds the responsibility to engage the community and encourage investment in this transformational project."
